Humanyun Tomb is a mausoleum in Delhi city. It is one among three World Heritage Sites in Delhi city. It is a first mature example of Moghul architecture whose inspiration was drew from 15th century Timurid architecture. He was the second Mughal emperor who was marked by struggle and vicissitude. After the death of his father Babur in 1530, he ascended the throne of Delhi. He was also the father of popular Mughal emperor Akbar. Humayun died in 19th January, 1556 after a fall on the steps of his library in Sher Mandal. It is a monument inside Purana Qila of Delhi which is not so far from Humayun tomb. Tomb building was erected in 1569 using red sandstone and white marble.
