Places to See in Kerala
The Backwaters: This place enroutes to Thiruvananthapram, it is famous for back water rides. Kollam [86 km] – the boarding point for many a mind-blowing household cruise, kollam has an intricate network of backwater, canals and lagoons. The most famous of these is the Ashtamudi Lake, a vast expanse of emerald green water fringed by coconut groves.
Fort Cochin: It is one of the finest natural harbors in the world. this made Kochi a haven for seafaring visitors from all over the world and thus it became the first European township in India when the Portuguese settled here in the 15th century. Fort Kochi is also home to one of India's oldest churches - the St.Francis Church. Apart from the many historic and cultural landmarks, Kochi also has an array of restaurants serving fresh seafood that are popular among tourists.
Kollam: It is considered as the gateway to the backwaters of Kerala. it was formerly a renowned trading point for spice. The district is a leading center for fishing in Kerala. It is home to the largest fresh water lake in Kerala – Sasthamcotta
Idukki: Idukki for its mountain hills and dense forests that combinedly make Idukki tour as one of the most nature rich areas of Kerala. Idukki is also regarded as “God’s Own Hideaway” because of its prime attractions that are hidden in its mountains, dams, forests, wildlife, scenic points, trekking trails, sanctuaries, hill stations and lakes.
Devikulam: The Devi Lake with its mineral water is a natural gift. Legend has it that Sita of the Ramayana fame came here and bathed in the waters of the lake in Devikulam. The lake is also ideal for fishing and is a good picnic spot
Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary: The Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary is located 16 kilometers east of Sultan's Battery and is also known as Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary. He Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary is part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve and is rich in bio diversity. Thiruvananthapuram: It is an adobe of temples mosque and churches. The Sri PadmanabhaswamyTemple, a highly venerated temple for Keralites, in the heart of the city is devoted to the deity Lord Anantha. A national geographic society publication has listed kerela among the world’s 50 greatest places of a lifetime. The only other name in the list being Taj Mahal.
